New Delhi: The Cabinet of the Union, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved several key political decisions on Friday focused on economic growth, infrastructure and well -being initiatives. Approved measures include meat subsidies, manufacturing incentives, agricultural subsidies, irrigation projects and road infrastructure.
2% increase in meat allocation for government employees
The cabinet approved a 2% increase in the allocation of meats (DA) for the employees of the central government and the relief of the portfolio (DR) for the pensioners, as of January 1, 2025. With this review, it now gives 55% of the basic salaries/pensions, which benefits the 48.66 employees of Lakh and 66.55 Pensioners Lakh. The measure will impose an additional load of RS 6,614,04 million rupees in the Treasury and is in line with the recommendations of the 7th Central Payment Commission.

PLI scheme for passive electronics manufacturing
An incentive scheme linked to production (PLI) has been approved by RS 22,919 million rupees to boost the national manufacture of passive electronic components. The scheme is expected to create 91,600 direct jobs and attract 59,350 million rupees in investment. For six years, its objective is to generate a production by RS 4.56 Lakh million rupees while integrating Indian companies into global value chains (GVC). The scheme aims to support various industries, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, cars, medical devices and the electricity sector.
RS 37,216 crore subsidy for fertilizers in Kharif 2025
To guarantee affordable fertilizers for farmers, the cabinet approved a subsidy of RS 37,216 million rupees for phosphatic and potassic fertilizers (P&K) for the next season of Kharif (from April 1 to September 30, 2025). The Government has assured that retail prices for Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) will remain unchanged. The allocation is 13,000 million rupees higher than that of Rabi’s 2024-25 season.
Approval for the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State Link De Bihar project
The government cabinet has approved the incorporation of the Kosi Mechi Intro-State Bihar Low PMKSy-AIBP project (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sonchai Yojana-Accelered Irrigation benefits of benefits). This initiative aims to strengthen irrigation facilities and improve flood control measures in the area. The RS 6,282.32 million rupees project, with RS 3,652.56 million rupees in central assistance, aims to divert the water from the Kosi surplus for irrigation in the Bihar basin in Mahaananda. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2029 and it is expected to improve irrigation and flood management.
Patna-Sasaram corridor to improve Bihar road connectivity
The cabinet has a four -lane green access corridor between Patna and Sasaram, Bihar, at a cost of RS 3,712.40 million rupees. Developed under the hybrid annuity model (HAM), the 120.10 km project includes the development of Greenfield and Brownfield roads to relieve congestion. This corridor will significantly reduce the travel time between Patna, Arrah and Sasaram, benefiting cities such as Arrah, Grahini, Piro, Bikramganj, Mokar and Sasaram.
