Ontario Prime Minister Doug Ford has returned the promise of last week to broadcast work permits to asylum seekers.
Ford and the rest of the country’s prime ministers said in their meeting last week that they wanted more control over immigration, generally a scope of the federal government.
The Ontario Prime Minister promised to issue work permits to asylum seekers after he and Alberta Prime Minister Danielle Smith, believed they found a solution in the Constitution.
He says that the federal government is taking too long to issue permits, but immigration, refugees and citizenship of Canada says that work permits are generally issued within 45 days.
Ford now says he does not want to take care of the work done by the federal government, but did not explain why he changed his mind.
Immigration, refugees and citizenship of Canada says that it is working with the provinces and territories to plan immigration levels from 2026 to 2028.
