The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) rejected on Tuesday the statements of Pakistani citizens involved in the Ukraine conflict after a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky said Monday that his troops in the Northeast of Ukraine were fighting foreign “mercenaries” from several countries, including China, Pakistan and parts of Africa.
A FO statement said today that Pakistan “categorically rejects the unfounded and unfounded accusations of the participation of Pakistani citizens in the conflict in Ukraine.”
“To date, the Ukrainian authorities have not formally approached Pakistan, nor has any verifiable evidence been presented to corroborate such claims.”
The statement added that the government will address this issue with the Ukrainian authorities, “and would seek clarifications in this regard.”
“Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, according to the principles of the UN Charter,” the statement said.
In an X publication on Monday, Zelensky said: “We talked to commanders about the first -line situation, the defense of Vovchansk and the dynamics of battles.
“Our warriors in this sector report the participation of mercenaries from China, Tayikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and African countries in the war. We will respond.”
