The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, ISHAQ, will carry out an official visit to Beijing from May 19 to 22 to celebrate in -depth discussions with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on the regional situation in evolution in southern Asia and its implications for peace and stability, said a declaration of the foreign office.
The visit occurs when the tensions are still high in the region after the top fire last week between Pakistan and India after a tense military confrontation about Pahalgam’s attack in busy Kashmir, which India blamed Pakistan without evidence. From May 6 to 7, Indian air attacks in Punjab and Azad Kashmir killed civilians, which led Islamabad to tear down five Indian planes. China had also reaffirmed his support for Pakistan in the middle of the escalation with India at a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari on May 5.
According to today’s statement, FM will travel to China tomorrow (Monday) by invitation of the FM YI China and will have in -depth discussions there.
“The couple will discuss the regional situation in the southern Asia and its implications for peace and stability,” said the fo.
“The two parties will also review the entire Bilateral Relations spectrum of Pakistan-China and will exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.”
He added that the visit was part of the high level exchanges between Pakistan and China.
Pakistan has maintained strong bilateral relations with China, which have supported it through many development investments and projects such as the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which was called a “line of life” for the country’s economy.
In March, China extended the reimbursement period of a loan of $ 2 billion to Pakistan for a year, offering a very necessary financial relief and helping to stabilize the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
