The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, arrived on the Eau on Monday for the next twelfth session of the Joint Ministerial Commission of Pakistan-Uae (JMC) that will be held in Abu Dhabi.
The twelfth session of PAK-UAE JMC is held after a 13-year pause after the last session was scheduled in Islamabad from November 6 to 7, 2013.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO), give the Pakistan delegation to the meeting scheduled on June 24.
“The JMC serves as the highest institutionalized platform for bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The next session will carry out the agenda of deepening strategic, economic and development cooperation between the two fraternal countries,” the statement said.
He said the delegation “will include secretaries and senior officials of key ministries, including economic issues, commerce, energy, maritime and interior affairs.”
“The Eau side will be directed by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the high-level representation of the relevant Emirati institutions,” he added.
Fo also said that the session will discuss progress in different areas of bilateral cooperation and explore new ways for collaboration in commerce, investment, energy, development of infrastructure and IT.
“Several legal instruments are expected to be completed during the session to institutionalize sector cooperation.”
The statement added: “The session will provide an important opportunity for both parties to align their economic priorities and unlock the potential to improve [the] Scope of a mutually beneficial association. “
Dar also wrote in X that he had arrived at the EAU to lead the Pakistan delegation at the JMC meeting.
The EAU is the third largest commercial partner in Pakistan after China and the United States, is home to more than one million Pakistani expatriates, and is the second largest remittance source for the country in southern Asia after Saudi Arabia.
The Pakistan ambassador to the EAU, Faisal Tirmizi, had said that bilateral trade between Pakistan and the EAU exceeded US $ 10.9 billion in fiscal year 2023–24, including goods and services.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the president and ruler of the ABU Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed al Nahyan during his official visit to the Gulf State, where he discussed issues of bilateral and regional interest.
The high -level commitment was aimed at reaffirming Pakistan’s gratitude to the friendly nations that supported Islamabad’s position during their recent confrontation with New Delhi.
