A severe event of sudden flood has had a direct objective to parts of the west medium this weekend, which forced the Wisconsin state fair to cancel many of its events.
The flood has directly impacted the southern Wisconsin, including the Milwaukee metropolitan area. On Saturday night, 24 preliminary storm reports arrived for the upper west, including wind gusts from 80 to 90 mph in the Omaha area.
Wisconsin State Fair Park, where the State Fair is celebrated, was forced to close early due to floods. The State Fair announced on Sunday that it will not open for the events of the day.
“We understand the disappointment that you can feel how our team works throughout the year during these 11 days,” reads the statement on Facebook. “However, the security of our visitors, team, partners and suppliers will always be our top priority.”
An additional round of thunderstorms is expected to affect the west medium again from Sunday morning, including parts of Nebraska and Iowa, which has the risk of damaging the wind and hail.
Sudden floods are also a concern throughout this region, with 8 million under the flood alerts of Kansas to Wisconsin. These alerts will remain in force until Monday as 1 to 6 inches of rain will be possible.
Until Sunday morning, the Milwaukee river is reaching the main level of the flood stage, which means an increase of at least 9 feet, according to the Oceanic and Atmospheric National Administration.
The rain moved to the metropolitan area of the western northwest of Milwaukee on Sunday morning, according to the country’s national weather office office.
“Little rain will be needed to obtain more sudden floods in this area, which makes this a dangerous situation in the Mike West-Northwest subway,” said the weather service. “Turn yourself, don’t drown!”
The US Triathlon announced that the nationals of Sprint and Parathrgy scheduled to be held on Sunday have been canceled due to “the combination of possible water conditions, floods and course damage throughout the course, limited emergency response equipment to support the event, as well as the imminent climate for Sunday.”
“We know how long, training and anticipation that has invested in this event, and we share its disappointment,” said USA Triathlon in a statement. “This was not the result that none of us wanted. We will monitor soon with more details about the next steps, including postponement and credit options.”
The video posted on social networks showed floods in the Wauwatosa suburb of Milwaukee on Saturday. Another video showed cars trapped in deep flood waters at the Wisconsin State Fair.
The fire departments in Waukesha County, which include Milwaukee parts, carried out rescue of people trapped in flood waters on Sunday.
