The head of the Army Field Field, also Munir, was honored with a prestigious war medal by the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, the military media wing said Wednesday.
According to a statement of public relations between services (ISPR), Colonel General of Azerbaijan, Karim Valiyev, today asked Coas Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi today.
“On the occasion, Colonel General Karim Valiyev conferred to the Marshal Munir, the prestigious Patriotic War Medal of Azerbaijan for the services of ‘Services in the field of military cooperation’, on behalf of President Illham Aliyev, in recognition of his exceptional contributions in Azerbaijan-Pakistan Bilateral Cooperation,” said the statement.
Established on May 17, 2002, the Medal is a state award of Azerbaijan, awarded to military from the country and foreign states, and other people for merits to strengthen military cooperation with the Azerbaijan armed forces.
According to the statement, General Valiyev praised the unwavering efforts of Pakistan for combating terrorism and reaffirmed the determination of Azerbaijan to improve collaboration in defense and security.
The Army presented the leader of Azerbaiyani to the Honor Guard for the Army upon arrival, according to the statement.
ISPR said both leaders held a meeting to discuss “matters of mutual interest, with a particular approach in the global and regional security scene.”
“Coas reaffirmed the deep fraternal ties of Pakistan with Azerbaijan and reiterated the resolution to further consolidate bilateral relations. The COA also congratulated the visiting dignitary for the successful conclusion of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he added.
Valiyev de Azerbaijan praised the Armed Forces for their “professionalism and success” in Marka-I-Haq and the Bunyanum Marsoos operation, according to the statement, and added that the delegation extended the best wishes for the next day of independence and the celebrations of the victory.
He continued: “Coas thanked the leadership and the people of Azerbaijan for being together with the people of Pakistan during Marka-I-Haq and also for sending the Azeri contingent for participating in the Ceremony of Independence Day.”
“Both military leaders expressed a shared commitment to advance defense cooperation and promote the joint efforts for regional peace and stability,” the statement added.
Islamabad and Baku maintain a robust military cooperation. In 2023, Coas Munir visited Azerbaijan, with the aim of strengthening military cooperation to military and defense collaboration between the two nations.
Last year, Azerbaijan signed a massive agreement of $ 1.6 billion with Pakistan to acquire combat aircraft JF-17 Block III, developed by the Pakistan aeronautical complex and the Chinese Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group.
