The Federal Government says that it will coincide with the donations made to the Canadian Red Cross as forest fires are plugged through the grasslands, forcing thousands of their homes.
Speaking in Parliament Hill on Tuesday, Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olszewski said the money will go to the relief of forest fires and disaster recovery.
The provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba will also match donations, he said.
The Minister of Emergency Management, Eleanor Olszewski, announced that the federal government will coincide with donations with the Canadian Red Cross to help the relief efforts and recovery of forest fires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, along with those provincial governments.
“This season of forest fires has started faster, and is stronger, more intense than previous years,” said Edmonton’s minister.

“Building a strong Canada means helping each other.”
Manitoba residents, Saskatchewan and Alberta have been asked to evacuate as forest fires are enraged, threaten the communities and bring thick and smoked air into parts of Canada.
Olszewski said that the government has already deployed personnel and team from the Canadian Armed Forces in northern Manitoba and is prepared to do the same if the governments of Saskatchewan or Alberta put formal requests.
