FBI returns records from Mar-a-Lago search to Trump, White House says

The White House said Friday that the FBI had granted President Donald Trump boxes derived from the search for his property as Florida by classified documents that were taken after Trump left office during his first term.

It was not clear immediately if the boxes included classified materials, but Trump celebrated obtaining them in a publication about Truth Social on Friday night.

“The Department of Justice has just returned the boxes that upset Jack Smith on which they get so great. They are being taken to Florida and one day they will be part of Trump’s presidential library,” Trump wrote. “Justice finally won. I did absolutely nothing bad. This was simply an attack against a political opponent who obviously did not work well. Justice in our country will now be restored.”

White House personnel were seen on Friday carrying approximately 15 boxes of documents in the back of Air Force One.

White House communications director Steven Cheung said the FBI was “returning to the president his property that was taken during illegal and illegal raids.”

“Today we are taking possession of the boxes and loading them on Air Force One,” said Cheung in a statement.

Answering the journalist’s questions during the flight, the president of President Alina Haba said that she had personally led some of the boxes with the employees “to take them where they belong, which is where they were taken illegally, and that is Florida.”

He had criticized the special lawyer who investigated the management of Trump’s classified documents and first presented charges in 2023, saying: “Jack Smith is no longer. We are in the oval office. ”

“Frankly, this was a hoax, as we knew,” Haba added.

When asked what was contained in the boxes, he said: “These are the things of President Trump. These are his articles and needed to be returned to him.”

Haba did not respond directly when asked if the White House is changing any storage protocol after the FBI search for Trump’s property in Florida in 2022 and the seizure of a treasure of classified materials.

Instead, he referred to photos, newspaper articles, “things that were completely irrelevant” for investigation, which “were taken from President Trump, and are now being returned.”

A federal judge dismissed the case of Trump’s classified documents last year after he discovered that Smith’s appointment and investigation financing had violated the law. Later, Smith urged a Court of Appeals to relive the case, which the Department of Justice withdrew after Trump won the presidential elections last year, citing a Long Data Department policy that opposes a prosecution of a president in exercise. Smith resigned in January.

Trump declared himself innocent and denied having acted badly after being accused in 2023 in the southern district of Florida for deliberately retaining the information of the National Defense, making false statements and representations, and conspiring to obstruct justice.

In an accusation of replacement that year, Trump was also accused of planning with the coacked to eliminate the security video in his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Last month, the Department of Justice also withdrew his case against the coacked of Trump, Trump Walt Nauta assistant and property manager Carlos de Oliveira, who declared himself innocent in the case, effectively ending the prosecution.
