Idaho prosecutors want to present a 3D model built by the FBI of the house where four university students were found brutally stabbed until death in 2022 at the suspect’s trial this summer.
The request was part of a series of presentations made on Tuesday, and occurs after the three -story house King Road in Moscow, located on the edge of the Idaho University campus, It was demolished a year after quadruple murders.
“This model will consist of three levels that can be eliminated by level to show the interior design of the residence,” prosecutors wrote in the presentation. “The interior design will represent the location of the wall and the doors (that is, there are no furniture, human representations, etc.)”.
The reconstruction of the FBI is “based on representations, documentation and measurements taken on the scene before demolition”, and “would help witnesses in their testimony,” prosecutors said.
The families of two of the victims had previously tried to postpone the drag of the house, arguing that the Idaho University should wait until after the trial was completed in case more evidence of the scene must be collected.
But Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said the condition of the house was substantially different in the months after the murders and researchers believed that they had gathered enough information to create an exhibition of the scene for trial.
The latest motions considered by Ada Steven Hipler County judge are part of the Prosecutor’s Office to limit the defense in Bryan Kohberger’s trial. Kohberger is accused of fatally stabbing colleagues from Casa Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, in November 2022.
Prosecutors are also asking the judge to prohibit that the defense in the present trial of Kohberger’s neurological and psychiatric evaluation; prohibit the defense of providing evidence of alibad that Kohberger does not provide directly; and not allow defense to offer evidence or argument “alternative perpetrator” without first proveing that it is relevant.
Kohberger was a resident of nearby Pullman, Washington, and then he was a doctoral student at Washington State University.
In his name in his name a statement of guilt of four positions of first degree and robbery was held, but they are expected to present a public reason, but they are expected to present DNA evidence, details about the use of cell phone and safety videos to connect Kohberger, 30, crime.
The defense lawyers have said that it would often take night units and that the data of the cell phone tower would show that it had been making miles away when the four students were fatally stabbed in the middle of the night.
Kohberger faces the death penalty if he is guilty in his trial, which will begin on August 11.
The last presentations follow a victory for the prosecution last week when Hippler denied several defense motions to suppress key DNA and other evidence.
Hippler discovered that there was no constitutional violation, as the defense maintained, when the police without an arrest warrant took garbage from outside the house of Kohberger’s parents in Pennsylvania and obtained DNA that tied him to a knife pod found in the Idaho crime scene.
The judge’s decision allows cell phones and email records, surveillance images, kohberger’s past Amazon purchases and DNA tests that will be presented at the trial.
