The nine -year -old Canadian girl’s father who was found dead after being reported as missing in the Northeast of New York was arrested Monday morning, according to Vine, a system that allows the victims of crime in the United States to obtain information about criminal cases.
More to come. Below is an earlier version of this story.
A press release from the New York State Police says that Warren County Sheriff’s officers received a call from a man who said that his nine-year-old daughter was missing in the area of departure 22 of the I-87 in Lake George, possibly due to a kidnapping, on Saturday just before 10 pm et.
They say that the girl was identified as the Canadian resident Melina Frattolin, and her father as Luciano Frattolin, 45. Both the father and the daughter were identified by the authorities as residents of Canada.
The statement says that the Warren County Sheriff’s office initially directed the investigation, but, as the case progressed, the officers identified inconsistencies in the account of the father of events and the timeline of Melina’s disappearance.
Police in New York says that with the help of several local agencies, Melina was found dead on Sunday in Ticonderoga, New York, about 50 kilometers east of Lake George, near the New York-Vermont border.
There was no kidnapping of signs, says the police
The investigation has been delivered to the New York State Police, who said that there are no indications that a kidnapping occurred and that there is no threat to the public.
It is not known the charges in the press release, and the New York State Police did not immediately answer questions about the circumstances surrounding Melina’s death. The officials responsible for enforcing the law said a press conference is scheduled for Monday.
Luciano’s whereabouts was not clear on Sunday night. He did not respond immediately to requests for comments sent through LinkedIn, Instagram and his company’s website, but describes himself as a “loving father” on his Instagram profile.
On the website of the Gambella coffee company based in the center of Montreal, which is said to be founded by Luciano, a post says that his daughter, Melina, is “the light of her life.”
“She is the inspiration to, well, everything,” he added.
