Fans of the first game at Casa del Toronto FC against Chicago Fire showed their disgust in the United States by booing The Star Banner On Saturday.
The boo was stable, followed by an enthusiastic interpretation of Or Canada.
Fans also booed the American anthem at the BC Place stadium when the Los Angeles galaxy visited Vancouver on March 2.
Canadian football fans have followed the hockey by showing their disgust for the tariffs of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, against the country and talking about Canada becoming state 51.
Chicago coach Gregg Berhalter, and American midfielder Jonathan Dean asked themselves at the beginning of the week about the possible Boing hymn in Toronto.
“We will be prepared to play, to compete in a football game,” said Berhalter, a former US team coach. Uu. “That reaction has nothing to do with the football game. It has to do with things outside the football that we cannot control.
“So, for us, you are really focusing on the things we can control. You know, we will be ready to play. We will be prepared. We will meet the opponent. And we will go out and give our best.”
Dean added: “That has not been something that we have still mentioned. But yes, for us, we will be respectful no matter what.”
Ironically, Toronto coach, Robin Fraser, mentioned the Canadian anthem when asked before the game about special memories of the openers at home.
“When the team is playing very well and the national anthem would be sung, he or she could stop singing and the crowd would assume it, it was a sensation that only created chicken skin,” said Fraser, a former American international born in Jamaica.
