The families of the victims of shooting of Robb Elementary School have reached an agreement with the city of Uvalde, Texas.
The members of the City Council unanimously voted on Tuesday to approve the agreement. The terms of the agreement are not revealed.
“Nothing can compensate for the losses and damage that these families endured on May 24, 2022,” said Mayor Héctor Luevano at the City Council meeting, “but today’s agreement marks an important step forward in the progress of community healing, ensuring that our city honors the lives we tragically lost and supporting all the surviving victims in the elementary shooting 2022 Robb.”
Luevano said the city will also work with representatives of the Families Committee for a permanent monument.
Several demands were filed in search of responsibility for the response of the application of the law to the shooting. Eighteen students of the fourth grade and two teachers were killed when an 18 -year -old armed man broke into school.
A families’ lawyer could not be contacted immediately on Wednesday.
Luevano said that the settlement “affirms the city’s commitment to support the Tutors initiative of the Uvalde Police Department, including greater emergency training and evaluation for officers, as well as the mental health support, while working to instill confidence in men and women, we take care of the critical responsibilities to protect all Uvalde residents.”
“We expect our continuous work and collaboration with Robb families to ensure that the Uvalde community can advance in the path of healing and collective reconciliation,” he said.
