A investigation committee formed by the police investigating the death of the Senior Dawnnews Journalist Khawar Hussain Bajwa ruled that he died for suicide, according to a copy of his final report available with Dawn.com.
The senior journalist was found dead in his car last week, parked in Hyderabad Road in Sanghar under what the police called “mysterious circumstances.” The body was found in the driving seat, with a gunshot wound in the head.
The day after the incident, the police said they were investigating the incident “from all possible angles” and that an investigation committee had formed to investigate Hussain’s death. This Committee, led by the Inspector General of the Additional Police of Sindh (PGI) (Department of Contribution) Azad Khan, composed of the deputy of the west of Karachi IGP Irfan Baloch and the police superintendent (SSP) of Sanghar (SSP) Abid Baloch.
The Committee reached its conclusion based on a detailed examination of the crime scene, witness interviews, postmortem and forensic report examination and Image analysis of CCTV, concluding that the cause of death was suicide.

The report said that Hussain’s vehicle was parked outside a restaurant in Sanghar for two hours, according to a “exhaustive” analysis of CCTV images from the scene. He affirmed that there was no evidence that he knew anyone, or anyone approached the vehicle.

The committee also said that Hussain died at some point between 9:58 pm and 10:35 PM also pointed out that it is unlikely that their findings change, despite the pending reports of laboratory and shooting waste tests.
“Several journalists and acquaintances trusted, outside the registry, about some friends of the deceased, which were [the] Cause of a severe crack between him and his spouse, ”said the report, mentioning that the reason behind the incident needed greater investigation.

A request was submitted to the Interior Department of Sindh for the constitution of a Medical Board that includes doctors and forensic experts to perform a “Post Mortem Exam just, transparent and impartial.”
Sanghar Ssp Baloch said that Hussain’s brother -in -law told the Police that he did not inform them about his arrival on Saturday, although he asked them to have an annual religious ritual according to the family’s tradition. Hussain had not told his friends in Sanghar about his visit or attended the ritual.
“His sister confirmed that he had celebrated Eidul Azha with her at her insistence, after her parents moved to the United States this May,” he said.
