Publications on Social Network and Facebook platforms since Wednesday shared an alleged alert of threats by the National Counter -Rican Authority (NACTA) of a possible terrorist attack in Karachi during Eidul Azha. However, the threat alert is false.
On Wednesday, a publication about X of a user said that Nacta had issued a threat alert on the same date with respect to a possible terrorist attack in Karachi during Eidul Azha.
The legend of the post said: “Intelligence warns about a possible terrorist attack in Karachi during Eidul Azha. Application of the law in maximum alert. Citizens urged to stay attentive and inform something suspicious.”
Other users circulated the same notification as you can see here, here, here and here.
It was also shared widely on Facebook, as seen here and here, and circulated in several WhatsApp groups.
A verification of facts began to determine the veracity of the claim given its proximity to the next vacation and its potential to cause undue concern and panic in the public.
The analysis of the document using multiple image analysis tools showed that the modmena moderation indicated a 98.6 percent probability that the image was generated by AI, Decopy.
The evaluation of the notification text using Decopy.AI, a detection tool for the text generated by AI, indicated a 31PC probability that the text would be generated AI.
A thorough examination of the supposed alert identified several discrepancies.
In particular, the word “Pakistan” at the top of the document is written with unnecessary spacing between “Pak” and “istan”. The phrase “in an emerging” is grammatically incorrect; It should be “has emerged.” The word “unidetified” is a lack of “unidentified” spelling. In addition, the phrase “during Eidul Azha” is repeated.
In the first bullet point, “Vitali” is written instead of “vital” and “Vigllance” instead of “surveillance.”
In the second point, the word “Ani” is written instead of “and”.
Towards the end of the document, the phrase “Alwan-E-Sadr” appears instead of the correct term “Aiwan-E-Sadr”. In addition, the names of several cities are poorly written in the supposed notification: “Islamnabad” instead of “Islamabad”, “Rawapidi” instead of “Rawalpindi” and “Paahawar” instead of “Peshawar.”
A keyword search for the “national authority of controlling terrorism”, “alert of threats”, “Karachi” and “Eidul Azha” did not throw news reports from any credible media that covers the alleged alert.
Contacted to comment, Qadir Yar Tiwana, general director of Media at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the alleged alert was false.
The same was confirmed by a NACTA representative when the official landline number of the authority was contacted (051-9216574).
Therefore, the verification of facts determined that the statement that NACTA issued a terrorist alert for Karachi during Eidul Azha is FAKE. The supposed alert is false.
This fact verification was originally published by Iverify Pakistan, a CEJ-IBA and UNDP project.
