What do you think is the root cause of the growing drug concerns in Kerala?
Citing Ravindran, who summed up the gloomy situation as: “If you do not fill the minds of young people with hope, they will fill their veins with drugs,” Rahul, the problem had become a coping mechanism in the state.
“This line resonates deeply because it encapsulates the pain that many young people in Kerala and throughout the country are forced to endure. Faced with a gloomy future, but loaded with pressure, our young people are resorting to drugs as a coping mechanism. We must do more to give them hope, support and purpose and work together to save our children from the periles of drug abuse,” he said.
Experts said last year, there were more than 27,000 cases of drug abuse in the state.
To address the problem, the Kerala government has assigned RS 12 million rupees for Vimukthi, the anti -drug campaign and alcohol addiction of the State Special Tax Department.
Vimukthi’s awareness mission aims to create a kerala without intoxicants by educating young people about the dangers of narcotic substances and curbing alcohol, drugs and tobacco abuse. The campaign also focuses on avoiding the hoarding and smuggling of these substances while promoting dis-addiction and rehabilitation efforts.
