Nueva Delhi: A former military man was shot dead while his wife and niece were injured in a terrorist attack in the district of Jammu and Kashmir Kulgam on Monday.
Manzoor Ahmed Waghey (39) succumbed to wounds and his wife Aina Akhtar (32) and niece Saina Hameed (13) were evacuated to a district hospital in Anantnag.
The Indian army said that a joint cord and search operation has been launched in Wehibagh, where the shot occurred.
“The cowardly act of terror in unarmed citizens was perpetrated by the hostile elements that do not want peace and prosperity that defines today’s backlight to bloom. In this act of terror, even the innocent woman and the child did not save themselves. The operation of Search has been released in Beibagh, “Chinar Corps said in an X post.
Prime Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the murder and prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic murder of former military man Manzoor Ahmad Wagay Sahab in Kulgam. My sincere condolences to his family and prayers for the rapid recovery of his wife and daughter injured. Such atrocious violence does not take place in our society and must be convicted in The strongest terms.
Reacting to the attack Hazratbal MLA SALMAN SAGAR also condemned the incident.
Sallman Sagar said: “This is condemnation. And it is your responsibility to maintain it.
