Ex-AJK PM Abdul Qayyum Niazi arrested in Bhimber area under MPO – Pakistan

Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, was arrested Sunday for violations of the maintenance of the public order ordinance (MPO), a police officer said. Dawn.com.

Niazi in 2022 presented his resignation from his office to deactivate the measure of his parliamentary party, the PTI, to replace him with the regional president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas through a vote of without trust.

Mirpur Inspector General Inspector (DIG) Dr. Liaqat Ali said Dawn.com that Niazi was arrested under section 16 (dissemination of rumors) of the MPO.

“According to the orders of Mirpur’s deputy commissioner, he was arrested under section 16 of the MPO,” said the excavation.

“He is arrested at the guest house in the industrial area in Mirpur, which has declared a sub-Cárcel,” he said.

The fir against Niazi in Islamabad was presented in the following sections:

  • 109 (Embarustment punishment if the abetive law is committed accordingly and where no express provision is granted for punishment),
  • 149 (each member of the illegal assembly guilty of crime committed in prosecution of the common object)
  • 186 (obstruct the public servant in the discharge of public functions)
  • 188 (disobedience to the order duly promulgated by the public servant)
  • 341 (punishment for unfair restriction)
  • 353 (assault or criminal force to deter the public server of their duty)
  • 395 (punishment for the Dacoity)
  • 440 (pranks committed after preparation was made causing death or injured)
  • 506 II (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Criminal Code

It was also hired under sections 7 (punishment for terrorism) and 11 times (responsibility for creating civil shock) of the Anti -Terrorism Law and Section 8 (punishment) of the Pacific Assembly Law and Public Order.

Dig Dr. Ali added that Niazi left Mirpur last night and went to Bhimber to attend demonstrations.

Niazi’s nephew, Sardar Moteeb, said the former prime minister was arrested when he was heading to the city of Bhimber from Samahni to attend a PTI Rally related to the campaign that demanded the release of the founder of the Imran Khan Party of the prison.

“He was arrested under section 16 of the MPO,” said Moteeb. “A Civil Personnel team had arrived from Islamabad to take their possessions, but local officials refused to deliver them and sent them back.”

Moteeb added that Niazi obtained bail of the Superior Court of Islamabad on July 13, which extended even more on July 26 to August 17.

Niazi press secretary, who accompanied him at the time of arrest, said Dawn.com That the former prime minister was arrested on the way to a demonstration and claimed that the police “snatched” his mobile phone.

“In addition to Niazi, two other bearers of the PTI office of the Kotli district, Malik Nisar and Dr. Shahnawaz, were also arrested,” he added.
