Evidence so far shows Humaira Asghar’s death accidental or due to natural causes: police report – Pakistan

The evidence until now shows that the death of actor Humaira Asghar was accidental or due to natural causes, according to a police investigation report published on Wednesday.

Last week, the Police formed a special investigation team to investigate the death of the actor, whose body was found in a Karachi apartment on July 8.

According to the report of the South Deputy Inspector, Syed Asad Raza, a copy of which it is available with Dawn.com“Evidence so far does not suggest dirty signs or suicide.

“Circumstances indicate a possible cause of accidental or natural death while dedicated to domestic tasks.”

The report added that the double block door and the presence of all interior keys support the conclusion that there is no third party participation. There was also no evidence of physical assault, struggle or weapons brands according to the initial post mortem report.

The final confirmation of the cause of death expected toxicology, chemical analysis and forensic findings, according to the report.

“The neighbors reported a bad smell in December 2024. In January, the owner and construction staff visited the apartment, but did not detect anything substantial,” reads the report.

The door and balcony window found themselves open and that probably allowed the smell to disperse.

The report continued that no one followed more due to the assumption that it was outside the city, since Humaira had a pattern of extended absences, and the owner of the apartment he had rented had already presented a case of eviction and decided not to get involved with her personally.

According to the digital and forensic analysis carried out by the Police on personal devices and mobile phones of Humaira, the last day of outgoing activity was on October 7, 2024, when he contacted 14 people.

“The last known communication was around 5 PM, suggesting strongly that he died later that day on October 7,” the report said.

The Police also alluded to the lack of surveillance and monitoring in the Apartament Building, since CCTV cameras were not installed inside or outside the building, and there was no front elevation or safety operator to monitor residents.

Humaira was buried in the Model Town Q Block Severayard in Lahore last Friday after a scarcely treated funeral.

An autopsy report from the Sumaiya Syed police surgeon had confirmed that the body was in an “advanced decomposition stage” and at least eight months of age.

The autopsy report was published to the Police, but the coroner could not determine the cause of death of the actor due to the level of decomposition.

The notification requested by the formation of the research team had ordered them to investigate the facts and thoroughly investigate the death of Humaira to determine the cause of death, whether natural, accidental, suicide or murder, using all available resources and present a progress report to the SSP office daily.

In addition to being an artist of theater, cinema and television, Humera was also a visual artist who studied in the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Punjab and completed a degree of Fine Arts in Painting. During his university days, he had an interaction with theater groups like Natak, led by Dr. Ahmed Bilal, who was a theater group based at the university that consists of students.

He had interactions with Amjad Islam Amjad, Qavi Khan and other superior actors who used to visit the university to obtain conferences. In his first years of scenic art, he made about four or five television works by Pakistan. He also made a socially relevant and objective theater in those days.
