The Pakistan ambassador to the SHEIKH of Rizwan Saeed of the United States, the potential of Starlink services, which will soon be functional in the country, as a means to close the digital division of Pakistan during a visit to the Spacex headquarters in Los Angeles, Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Wednesday.
Starlink Services, owned by the Elon Musk Technology billionaire, is one of the most advanced technologically technologically between those provided by the Internet through orbit satellites of Low Earth. Last month, Federal Minister of IT and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that Starlink services are operational in the country at the end of this year.
The ambassador, accompanied by a delegation, was informed about the collaboration efforts between Pakistan and Spacex, particularly how the Satellite Infrastructure of the low land orbit of Starlink and the commercial capacities of Spacex had “transformative” potential for the digital landscape of Pakistan.
The delegation was received at the Spacex headquarters by Starlink Global Business Operations and the Global Business Development Director, and provided a guided tour of the space giant headquarters.
During the visit, the two parties discussed efforts focused on “expanding broadband access and strengthening national connectivity, particularly in remote and disadvantaged areas,” according to the report.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promote innovation through international strategic associations, hoping that such participation will result in tangible cooperation in space technology, digital infrastructure and commercial innovation.
The commitment is part of a series of efforts focused on strengthening the ties between the private IT sectors of Pakistan and the United States.
Last month, IT Minister announced that a provisional license has been granted to Starlink to provide satellite -based Internet services in the country, and the services were expected to be available in the country at the end of this year. He also announced that a Chinese company, the Shanghai spacecraft satellite technology, has also requested a satellite -based Internet license, adding that “the government is encouraging competition in the sector.”
