The Commander of the Naval Forces of the United Arab Emirates (EAU), Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi, received on Monday the Nishan-Imtiaz (military) by President Asif Ali Zardari in a special investiture ceremony in the presidency.
A press release from the Secretariat of the President cited Zarari saying that the prize was “in recognition of its outstanding services and contributions.”
“He (President Zardari) added that the commander’s visit reflected the lasting fraternal ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, which are a testimony of the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen cooperation in all fields,” said the press release.
According to the press release, the president appreciated the confidence of the EAU Navy in the professional experience of the Pakistan Navy and expressed interest in greater collaboration, stating that they remain ready to support the labor requirements of his Emiratí counterpart in the future.
President Zardari also highlighted the extraordinary and exemplary relationships enjoyed by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, who are “rooted in history and strengthened by the lasting ties of people to people.” The press release said that it reaffirmed Islamabad’s resolution to continue working closely with the EAU and reinforce fraternal ties.
“Commander Alremeithi informed the president that he had close links with Pakistan, after having spent four years in the country while graduating from the Naval Academy of Pakistan [in] Karachi, ”said the press release.
During his visit, Major General Alremeithi also called the President of the Joint Committee of Chiefs of Staff (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza to the headquarters of the Joint Personnel in Rawalpindi, where he was welcome with an honor guard, according to a press release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISP).
“The two dignitaries conducted in -depth discussions on professional issues, reviewing the global and regional geostratic environment in evolution,” said the ISPR. “Both parties emphasized the vital role of bilateral defense and security cooperation, even in the maritime domain, for regional peace and stability.”
The ISPR declared that the general gene Alremeithi expressed its appreciation for the professional standards and achievements of the armed forces of Pakistan, as well as its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and the continuous efforts to achieve regional peace and stability.
Pakistan and Eau share close diplomatic, economic and cultural ties. The EAU is one of Pakistan’s largest commercial partners in the Middle East and an important source of remittances, with a large population of Pakistani expatriates who live and work there.
