Elon Musk leads a group of investors in the offer to buy Operai control for $ 97.4 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The offer is for the nonprofit organization that supervises the artificial intelligence startup, the Journal said, added that Musk’s lawyer Marc Toberoff said he presented the offer on Monday.
The WSJ cited a Musk statement provided by Anoberooff, saying that “it is time for OpenAi to return to the open force centered for security forever.”
In an X publication, the Operai CEO, Sam Altman, wrote: “No thanks, but we will buy Twitter for $ 9.74 billion if you wish.” Then, Musk responded to the head of Operai in X calling him a “scammer”, and in a response to a different user, he called him “Scam Altman.”
Musk, who is President Donald Trump’s advisor, is in the middle of a heated battle of legal and public relations with Altman. They were two of Openai co -founders in 2015, establishing the entity as a non -profit organization focused on AI.
Since then, Openai has emerged as a giant in the generative AI, launching Chatgpt in 2022 and establishing an investment wave in new tools and infrastructure for next -generation products and services. SoftBank is close to finishing an investment of $ 40 billion in Openai with an assessment of $ 260 billion, fountains told David Faber de CNBC last week.
Musk now has a competitor in the AI market, a startup called XAI, and is demanding OpenAi, accusing him of antitrust violations and trying to prevent it from becoming a profit corporation.
Meanwhile, Openai associated with SoftBank and Oracle in a project announced by Trump just after its inauguration called Stargate, which makes companies invest billions of dollars in AI infrastructure in the United States.
Musk’s offer is backed by XAI, which the Journal Informa could fuse with OpenAI if an agreement occurs. Other investors in the offer include Equity Partners value, Baron Capital, 8VC and the Ari Emanuel investment fund, the document reported.
Toboff sent a letter to general prosecutors in California and Delaware on January 7, asking that the offer for OpenAI will open.
