The space research commission and the upper atmosphere (Supparco) said Wednesday that Eidul Fitr will probably fall on March 31.
In a statement, the commission said that, given the scientific parameters, the probability of sighting of the moon on March 30, 2025 in Pakistan was high.
“Consequently, Ramazan Complete is expected [in] 29 days, and the first day of Eidul Fitr will probably be observed on March 31, 2025, ”he said.
He pointed out that in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the possibilities of observing the moon were “almost impossible on March 29, 2025, since the age of the crescent at the time of sunset in Makkah would be approximately five hours.”
“In this sense, the Crescent is expected to be visible on March 30, 2025 in Saudi and the Middle East, and would probably also celebrate EID on March 31, 2025,” he added.
Previously, the Federal Government had announced a three -day vacation for Eidul Fitr from March 31 to April 2, according to a notification.
The Central Committee of Ruet-Hilal, together with the Zonal Committees, will meet on the night of March 30 (Sunday) to see the Shawwal moon, marking Ramazan’s potential end.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan said there were good chances of observing the new moon of Shawwal 1446 AH on the night of March 30, according to a notification issued on March 7 and a copy of which it is available with Dawn.com.
It should be noted that previously Supparco had predicted that Ramazan would begin on March 2, while Eidul Fitr would be observed on March 31.
Eidul Fitr is a significant festival in the Islamic lunar calendar, held at Ramazan’s conclusion, when Muslims around the world observe a month of fasting. EID celebrations mark the end of this self -control period.
Earlier this week, Pakistan Railways also announced four special trains to facilitate passengers traveling before and after Eidul Fitr.
