Chandigarh: Punjab govt dismissed on Thursday DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu in relation to a September 2022 interview with Lawrence Bishnoi while the gangster was in custody at the police’s Criminal Investigation Agency premises in Mohali’s Kharar.
The dismissal order was signed by state home secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh. He noted that Sandhu, suspended since October 2024, had “severely damaged the image of Punjab Police as a result of his misconduct, negligence and dereliction of duty” during Bishnoi’s interview while in CIA Kharar custody.” “Your failure to discharge your duty properly is a serious violation of the rules of discipline and conduct of the Punjab Police,” the order states.
The dismissal came after the consent of the Punjab Public Service Commission. The government had told the Punjab and Haryana HC that Sandhu had not cooperated with the investigation and his whereabouts were unknown.
