Detained Norwegian teenager planned mosque attack in Oslo: police – World

A Norwegian teenager detained after the murder of an Ethiopian worker in a Oslo shelter also planned an attack on a mosque, police said Thursday.

The 18 -year -old was arrested after the murder on Saturday night of Tamima Nibras Juhar, a 34 -year -old social worker, in the Hostel de Oslo, where he was a member of the staff and the suspect was a resident.

Youth is now the subject of murder and terrorism investigation after the police said he had expressed “hostile opinions to Muslims.”

The suspect, “he declared that he intended to commit an attack on a mosque in Hoenefoss,” a city about 60 kilometers (40 miles) north of the Norwegian capital, police said in a statement.

“It is important to emphasize that there are still many indications that the suspect’s ability to carry out more attacks was limited,” the police added.

It was said that the young people acted alone.

The media have identified as Djordje Wilms German, who moved to Norway from Serbia as a child, although the police have not confirmed these elements. Norway has been marked by extreme wing attacks on the right in recent years.
