A recent sauce in the public opinion survey for the conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has done little to abolish the confidence of his supporters in London, Ontario, before an imminent federal election.
Hundreds of conservative sponsors appeared to the RBC place for a demonstration on Sunday called “Trace it home”, the first of Pailievre in the city of southwest Ontario since the late 2023.
The mid -day demonstration, which caused an alignment that slid around the block, occurs when the comfortable vote lead of the party on the liberals has been reduced after the return of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to the office and the announcement of renunciation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Despite that, supporters waiting to enter the rally did not express any concern about Pailievre’s possibilities in the next federal elections, provided it can be called.
“I hope it is a guarantee. But, you know, if for some reason we lose, we lose. That is part of democracy,” said Jordon Chortos, resident of London. “The Liberal Party must understand that it depends on people. You can not only remain in power forever, unless people allow you.”
Pailievre was preceded on stage by Andrew Lawton, the candidate of the party in Elgin, Middlesex, London, and was presented by his wife, Anaida Pailievre.
Carney is the new Poilievre opponent
The rally occurred only hours before the liberals announced the election of Mark Carney as the new leader of the party, and, by extension, the new electoral opponent of Poilievre. It remains to see if Carney, who is appointed by the prime minister until Trudeau presents his resignation to the general governor, will now call an election or wait until the Parliament returns on March 24.
Carney was mentioned at least a dozen times by the conservative leader, who called him “Carney Carney” in recent months. During the demonstration, Pailievre said without evidence that the new liberal leader was lying on his promise to discard the tax.
“Be careful with everyone, because Cunning Mark Carney is going to try to pull you fast. This is what he has planned, I am making a prediction,” he told the crowd.
Pailievre suggested that Carney would tell his Minister of Environment to stop collecting the tax until after the elections and then bring a “even larger shadow carbon tax.”
Answering a question about the comments of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, that the conservative leader of Canada is not a “Guil Maga”, Pierre Poilievre says that it is only for Canada, and adds that Canada will never be state 51.

External supporters want the choice
Outside the RBC place, supporters were largely unified, saying that an election should be called immediately.
“Before, better,” said Robert Wood, who was in line with his wife, Joyce Wood. For him, Carney’s only competitor was Ruby Dhalla, and added that the liberals “cut her on his knees.”
“The debates were a ridiculous congratulation message to the Canadian public, and did not represent what most Canadians think,” Wood said.
Dhalla was expelled from the leadership career after the voting committee of the Liberal Party said he had violated multiple rules, including the alleged violations of the Canada Elections Law and inaccurate financial reports. Dhalla has called “false” and “manufactured” accusations.
“Monday would be perfect. We need a change in Canada,” said Jennifer Stoskopf, resident of London, when the elections should be called.
Stoskopf said it was important that Canada had a strong leader to fight Trump, who has been threatening with punishing rates and comments on Canada becoming state 51.
On the other side of the street, a smaller crowd of protesters stirred signs in opposition to Pailievre, some comparing it with a Canadian Trump. “It’s not true at all,” said Stoskopf.
“God bless this country, so that we can have protesters and counterprotestors. That is the best of Canada, freedom of expression.”
Any electoral call must be made in a month or two, said Will Rogers, a post -secondary local student in the row to listen to Poilievre.
“I would like to see what the liberals have to offer for their new leader. If we have a little more time, we basically have a free test to see how they manage,” he said.
Rogers admitted that he was not deeply familiar with the Pailievre platform, and hoped to learn more in the demonstration about his positions on housing and commerce amid the tariff threats of the United States.
