Nueva Delhi: The head of the AAM AADMI party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita and his older parents issued his vote for the elections of the Delhi assembly on Wednesday morning. The former 56 -year -old Delhi, along with his parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, who were in wheelchairs, exercised their democratic rights at Lady Irwin’s senior high school in the capital.
Speaking to the media after voting, Kejriwal expressed his gratitude for his parents’ efforts despite his fragility. “My parents were very excited to cast their votes, and they have made all their efforts to do that. I call the people of Delhi to leave and cast their votes for the development of the city,” he said.
His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, also shared her belief in the wisdom of Delhi’s electorate. “The people of Delhi are very intelligent. We trust them. They do not tolerate ‘Gndagardi’ [hooliganism]. We firmly believe that people will make the right decision, “he said.
The surveys began at 7 am, with more than 1.5 million voters eligible to vote in 70 electoral districts. The elections are considered a critical evidence for the AAP of Kejriwal, which points to a third consecutive mandate in the position. The New Delhi constituency is especially high profile, with Kejriwal facing Parsh Verma by BJP and Sandeep Dikshit of Congress.
While the AAP is still focused on its governance registry and well -being schemes, BJP and Congress seek to claim land in a city where they have historically had power. Kejriwal, however, is still hopeful. “He who works for Delhi will win people’s votes,” he said.
At 1 in the afternoon, the elections of the Delhi’s monophasic assembly saw a voting participation of 33.31%, with a northeast district that led 39.51%. The lowest participation was recorded in the center of Delhi at 29.74%. Other districts reported the following participation rates: South West (35.44%), New Delhi (29.89%), East (33.66%), North (32.44%), Northwest (33.17%), Shahdara (35.81%), South (32.67 )%), Southeast (32.27%) and West (30.87%).
Amid strict security, the leader of the AAP, Saurabh Bhardwaj, raised concerns about the electoral interference, claiming that Delhi’s police tried to stop voters at a voting station in Chiag Delhi. The BJP leader, Broj Tiwari, cast his vote, confident in the victory of BJP. AAP, with the objective of a third consecutive term, faces a strong BJP competition, which is looking at a return after 27 years. The Congress, once dominant, awaits a return after not winning seats in the last two elections.
