The coach of Colorado, Deion Sanders, has received an extension of the contract during the 2029 season after changing an oppressed program in just two seasons.
The school said the extension increases the annual base salary of Sanders to $ 10 million this year, making it the best paid football coach in Big 12. The agreement was reached with three years remaining in the existing agreement of Sanders at five years and $ 29.5 million that he signed when he was brought from the state of Jackson.
“The Prime coach has revolutionized university football and, in doing so, has restored Cu football to our legitimate place as a national power,” said athletics director Rick George, in the statement announcing the extension. “This extension not only recognizes the incredible achievements of the coach who transforms our program inside and outside the field, but also keeps it in Boulder to compete for national and conference championships in the coming years.”
Sanders and the Buffaloes come from a 9-4 season in which they obtained a place at the Alamo Bowl.
