According to the latest figures, “at least 299 people have lost their lives in the sudden floods of this year and torrential rains, while another 715 people were reported injured. For the number of deaths for death – 140 were children, 102 men and 57 women,” the report said.
Of the 715 wounded, 239 were children, 204 were women, while 272 were men, he added.
Detailing the damage to public property suffered during the rains and floods caused by heavy rains, the report estimated that a total of 1676 houses were damaged, of which 562 houses were completely destroyed.
Around 428 cattle were lost during the rains, according to the report.
Since June 26, NDMA has rescued and evacuated 2,880 people in impacted regions, while help efforts were also underway. According to the report, the authority distributed 13,466 relief items that include 1,999 tents, 61 bags of rations, 958 blankets, 569 bedspreads, 613 mattresses, 1,282 kitchen sets, 1,163 food packages, 350 life jackets, 1,122 hygiene hygiene.
On Saturday, the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) predicted more rain, with sun loups in the upper and central regions of the country during the next week. PMD led to the provincial disaster management authorities and the district administrations to take preventive measures against possible urban floods.
According to the latest PMD forecast, Rain, Wind and Thundershowers, with isolated heavy falls, are expected to reach the north of the country, from August 4 to August 7.
Rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Islamabad between these dates, while Gilgit Baltistan will receive rain from August 5.
Meanwhile, Baluchistan will mainly experience warm and humid climate, although rain, wind and thundershowers are expected in the northeast and southern parts on August 6.
Sindh is likely to see warm and humid conditions in most parts, with cloudy climate and expected light rain in coastal areas.
