David Beckham receives knighthood in King Charles’ birthday honors list for services to sport

London – The British football legend David Beckham, a sports icon and one of the most recognizable faces in the world, has received a cavalry from King Charles III for sports services and the beneficial organization, Buckingham Palace announced Friday.

The prize, the outdated honors system of Great Britain, can grant, seems inevitable given Beckham’s success as a player and his contribution to the country’s culture. For years, the British have wondered how it has not been elevated to Sir David.

He obtains the “Gong”, as is known in the British language, as part of the king’s birthday honors list, which rewards notable people from the entire British society.

The measure also means that his famous wife, the Spice Girl turned into the Magnate of Victoria Fashion, will now be known as Lady Beckham. Their marriage in 1999 made them the most famous couple in Great Britain and an almost permanent accessory in newspapers and magazines of the tabloids, an obsession that has lasted the era of social networks.

Beckham, 50, rose from a non -remarkable education in eastern London to reach sports glory with his beloved Manchester United, before starring several of Europe’s elite teams. He played more than 100 games for the English national male team, many as a captain, and scored in three world drinks.

He was part of the famous “92 class”, a supremely talented group of young players who signed professional agreements in 1992 and continued to form the basis of the Imperial Domain phase of United in the 1990s and early 2000 and England Cup, under the manager Alex Ferguson.

Beckham won 19 main trophies in his career and became the first English player to win important titles in four different countries.

An elegant player, Beckham’s intelligence compensated for his lack of rhythm and deception. He was famous for his long passes that opened defenses and devastating free throws, which, according to former teammates, spent countless hours perfecting.

His career took him to the United States in 2007, where he played for the Los Angeles galaxy and helped build the football profile in the country.

Beckham has been Ambassador of UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, since 2005. Ten years later, the organization launched a background in its name.

The Beckham game was formed partly by the media businessman Simon Fuller, former Spice Girls manager. Fuller was essential to put a clause in his contract that would give him a participation in a MLS franchise for $ 25 million when he finished touching.

As a result, he is now president and co -owner of the Inter Miami MLS franchise, currently home of the Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who is considered one of the best players in the history of sport.

Beckham has maintained a higher profile than any footballer of his generation. From waiting hours on the Miles Long line to see the coffin of Queen Elizabeth (apparently without asking for special access) in 2022 to a winning docuseries of a four -part Emmy in Netflix last year, her star profile remains enormous.

In 2017, it seemed that a cavalry was very far when the emails leaked allegedly written by Beckham were very critical of the honors system. A Beckham spokesman said at that time that stolen emails were “pirate and manipulated.”

While the king, or at least a real royalty, honors are decided by politicians, public officials and main commercial figures. The general process is administered by 10 Downing Street, the private office and the residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who received a cavalry in 2014.
