The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, said Tuesday that former Jamaat-I-Islami Senator (JI) Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who was arrested by Israel last week after intercepting a flotilla of ships that transport help for Gaza, had reached the Pakistan embassy in Amman, Jordan and was in “Good Health and Spirit.” “
Mushtaq led the Pakistani delegation in the Global Sumud (GSF) flotilla of 45 vessels, which Spain left last month to break Israel’s help to Gaza with activists and politicians, including Greta Thunberg, on board. However, when he approached Gaza, Israeli forces intercepted him, stopping activists on board before deporting them.
In a publication on the social media platform X, he said: “I am pleased to confirm that former Senator Mushtaq has been released and is now safely with [the] Pakistan embassy in Amman. He is in good health and in a good mood. “
He said the embassy was ready to facilitate his return to Pakistan in his desire.
“[I] I am pleased to extend our gratitude to all our friendly countries that participated and actively attended in this name, ”he said.
Meanwhile, Mushtaq also published a video on his X account in which he declared that the fight against the Israeli block was not over.
“I have arrived in Jordan along with 150 of my colleagues,” he said, adding that he had finally been released from Israeli detention.
“During this time, our hands were handcuffed behind us, our feet were chained and chained, we had the bandaged eyes, the dogs put us, the weapons pointed to us and we were tortured in the worst way,” he said.
He said the activists were hungry for three days, adding that they were denied access to air, drinking water, medications and were not allowed to bed.
“We have been released,” he said. “And the struggle for Palestinian freedom will continue. We will break this block. We will go again and again. We will make efforts to save Gaza, and those who are complicit in this genocide: those criminals will be punished,” he said.
He stressed that the fight would continue “from Adial prison to Israeli prisons”, promising that he would return to Pakistan soon and provide a detailed description of his time in the flotilla and in Israeli detention.
On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) had said that I was making efforts for the safe return of the former senator.
“With the invaluable assistance of the Jordanian government, we hope that the process can conclude successfully in the next few days,” said the fo. He had also expressed a deep gratitude to the “fraternal” government of Jordan for “his exemplary cooperation and generous support.”
Pakistan and several other countries had condemned Israel’s “assault attack” against the GSF. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also requested the release of those arrested by Israel.
On October 3, JI Hafiz Naeemur Rehman had assured during a telephone conversation that the Government was actively dedicated to efforts to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens, including Mushtaq.
