D.G. Khan administration bans night travel to Balochistan – Pakistan

Dera Ghazi Khan: The District Administration of Dera Ghazi Khan imposed on Monday a new security measure under which all traffic is prohibited from entering Baluchistan at night, with all public and private vehicles detained at the border control points from 5 pm to the next morning.

From now on, traffic will only be allowed to cross Baluchistan during the hours of the day to avoid adverse incidents, authorities said.

The Directive of the Deputy Commissioner and President of the Regional Transportation Authority Muhammad Usman Khalid applies to the main border crossings in Sakhi Sarwar and Bawata.

“The protection of the life and property of citizens is the highest priority, and security measures are becoming more effective and comprehensive,” he said.

The movement occurs as part of a broader security improvement in the region after the murder of nine bus passengers, all of Punjab, in Baluchistan.

In addition to the prohibition of night travel, a formal notification described several other protocols.

The officials will make video recordings of drivers and passengers in all public transport vehicles at the bus terminals before leaving.

In addition, vehicles will travel under strict security in protected convoys.

The directive also requires that all public transport vehicles be equipped with active CCTV cameras, monitoring of GPS and emergency panic alarms to guarantee a quick response in any crisis.

Khalid said officials have received instructions to provide all the necessary facilities to passengers and transport operators that will have to wait during the night at the control points.
