Washington – A Federal Grand Jury in Washington refused to accuse a woman accused of threatening President Donald Trump on social networks, another sign of rejection of DC residents about the use of the Federal Police and the deployment of National Guard troops in the city.
The United States Prosecutor’s Office for the Columbia district accused Nathalie Rose Jones from Indiana to threaten to take off the president’s life and transmit threats on state lines on Instagram and Facebook.
Jones supposedly called Trump a “terrorist” and a “Nazi” in a voluntary interview with the secret service. He attended a march in Washington on August 16 that went around the White House complex and was then arrested, although he said he did not feel like damaging Trump. Friends wrote in courts that Jones has had mental health problems.
In a motion presented on Monday, his defense lawyers revealed that a large jury did not accuse Jones.
“A great jury has now not found any probable cause to accuse Mrs. Jones about charged crimes,” they wrote their federal public defenders, looking for Jones to be released under their own recognition.
When annulled by a magistrate judge, the main district judge James Boasberg had ordered Jones released in the detention of the home.
“Given that finding, the weight of the evidence is weak,” they wrote their federal public defenders about the decision of the Grand Jury. “The government may intend to try to obtain an accusation again, but the evidence has not changed and it is not likely that there is no accusation. For this reason, the court must free Mrs. Jones in their personal recognition to appear if necessary.”
It is rare that a federal grand jury refuses, but has become an emerging trend in Washington in the middle of Trump’s federal offensive, with large jurors composed of local residents that decrease to accuse at least six times in recent weeks.
Last week, a grand jury refused to accuse an employee of the Department of Justice called Sean Dunn, who was seen in a video throwing a hoagie in the chest of one of the agents of the federal law that patrolled the streets of Washington. Dunn has become a symbol of opposition to federal acquisition among DC residents, with Banksy -style art that represents a man who appears a sandwich that appears in the city.
A grand jury also refused to accuse Alvin Summers of assault on a federal officer. And three great federal juries refused to accuse Sidney Lori Reid with assault during a fight with an FBI agent, and his positions were degraded to a minor crime.
