Crew rescued after cargo vessel runs aground on Newfoundland’s west coast

On Saturday morning, a great load huge on the west coast of the island. Creations of search and rescue helicopters of the ship’s crew were deployed.

All members of the MSC Baltic III crew have been rescued after their ship hiced near the coast of Lark Harbor in Terranova and the west coast of Labrador.

The photos published on social networks show the ship against the rocks, near the cliffs.

Prime Minister Andrew Furey confirmed this morning that the ship lost power before running and that the twenty crew members were safely evacuated.

The Canadian coast guard CCGS Henry Larson is located in the area and the search and rescue aircraft, including a Cormorant helicopter, were part of the rescue effort.

Currently a winter storm warning is in force in the region, with winds of up to 120 km/h. Ferry’s crosses from the help ships have been canceled for the day.
