The government on Monday reviewed the compensation package for martyred and injured Civil Armed Forces (CAF) personnel, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
CAF is defined as a federal paramilitary force working under the Ministry of Home Affairs, in accordance with Section 18, sub-section 21 of Schedule II of the Business Rules, 1973, such as the Federal Police, the Frontier Corps, the Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts and the Pakistan Coast Guard.
The decision to revise the compensation to be at par with that of the Islamabad police was taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs in August this year and approved by the cabinet on August 25.
As per today’s notification, the minimum compensation will be Rs 10 million (grades 1 to 9), while the maximum is now Rs 20 million (grade 20 and above).
“If a member of the CAF is shahid (martyr), permanently disabled, injured with serious injuries or minor injuries, as the case may be, while in bona fide government service, reward under these rules may be given to him or his family, as the case may be,” the notification said.
The package also includes Rs 3 million in cash compensation in case of becoming “incapacitated and released from services due to being disabled as a result of injuries in encounters, bomb blasts, riots or surveillance duties or terrorist activity.”
1 million rupees in compensation would be provided to the staff incapacitated in the above-mentioned incidents, but who are still serving in the department. Serious injuries would grant compensation of Rs 200,000, while minor injuries would grant compensation of Rs 100,000.
In 2020, compensation amounts were revised so that “security-related” deaths and injuries of civilian armed forces personnel would provide a maximum compensation of 3 million rupees (grades 1 to 16) and a maximum of 10 million rupees (grade 20 and above).
