Thousands of athletes, their families and sports fans from all over the country will be in the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador for the Games, which will run from August 8 to 25. St. John’s was the host of the summer event in 1977, 10 years after the Canada Games began in 1967.

The large number of events and the “small footprint” of St. John means that when the athletes do not compete, they can encourage their teammates.
