Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan maintained productive discussions with Bangladesh’s advisor for Adilur Rahman Khan industries in Dhaka on Thursday to explore roads for industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The two countries were once a nation, but they separated after a bloody civil war, which saw the territory previously referred to as ‘Eastern Pakistan’ sectioned to form the independent nation of Bangladesh. In later years, Dhaka’s leaders, especially the regime expelled from Sheikh Hasina, firmly remained in the Indian camp. However, after the Hasina government was shot down last year, there has been a thaw in the ties between the two capitals, with commercial and bilateral relations seeing a marked improvement.
The Minister of Commerce is currently on a visit to Bangladesh. He was received upon arrival in Dhaka by Bangladesh’s trade advisor, Sheikh Bashiruddin.
“I hope to participate with officials and business leaders,” he said.
Kamal and Rahman discussed the importance of taking advantage of their economies and industry to address food security problems, value in food industry and align industrial technology.
Their discussions focused on exchanging experience in various sectors through the mutual exchange of delegations and the exchange of knowledge.
Kamal emphasized Pakistan’s interest in being part of Bangladesh’s evolutionary industrial landscape through collaboration, joint companies and mutual investment. He also emphasized the need for a shared vision to create an environment conducive to industrial growth, then turn that relationship into an association through bilateral trade.
The minister focused on the value industries for revenue generation and socio -economic elevation, and appreciated the growth of Bangladesh in sectors such as pharmaceutical products, textiles and information technology.
Rahman highlighted Bangladesh’s progress in industrial development and recognized the growing industrial requirements of the country. He also showed great interest in the exchange of knowledge and industrial collaboration.
Rahman identified leather, ship construction, sugar, agriculture processing and small and medium enterprises as areas of possible collaboration.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, will visit Dhaka on August 23 to “discuss ways to strengthen coordination with Bangladesh,” according to Bangladesh. Tribune Dhaka.
The report had said that FM Dar would have a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Advisor of Bangladesh, MD Touhid Hossain, on August 24, in addition to other commitments.
Last month, Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed to grant free admission to the headlines of diplomatic and official passports on the other side.
In principle, the agreement, which marked an advance in bilateral relations between the two states, was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Interior Minister of Bangladesh, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
