The details about what led to the shooting still are not clear. The Southaven Police Department and a Carroll representative did not immediately respond to a comment request on Monday.

“Because this is an active investigation, there is limited information that will be published,” police said Saturday. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Carroll’s family.”

Carroll made a foot comedy and toured throughout the country. Club Mobtown Comedy paid tribute to Carroll in an Instagram post on Saturday.

“Rest in the power @comedigreggiece development, thanks for being one of the OG that supported us from the beginning,” the club wrote. “The Mobtown family and the Baltimore comedy community are very sad for this loss of one of the great talents of our city. Send our prayers to the Reggie family.”

Research on his death is ongoing.
