Colleague hacks woman with cleaver in office parking lot as people watch | India News

PUNE: Shubhada Kodare, a 25-year-old BPO worker, was hacked to death with a knife by a colleague in the parking lot of her office, while two dozen people stood as mute spectators.
Shubhada was attacked on Tuesday by Krishna Satyanarayan Kanojia, 27, allegedly because she refused to return the money he had lent her under a false pretext. He succumbed to injuries on Tuesday night at a private hospital. Kanojia was arrested and the investigation continues.
A grainy minute-long video of the attack emerged online on Thursday, showing the attacker walking calmly with the knife before Shubhada fell to the ground and a pool of blood formed around her. Although around twenty people witnessed the scene at the BPO facilities, where both the accused and the victim worked, none of them moved to stop the attacker. Some grabbed the attacker only after he threw the knife.
Additional commissioner of police Manoj Patil said investigation revealed that both Shubhada and Kanojia were working as executives in the BPO accounts department at Ramwadi in Yerawada. About a year ago, Shubhada, from Karad in Satara, told Kanojia that she needed money to support her father’s treatment. He lent him money several times totaling Rs 4 lakh.
A few months ago he informed Kanojia that his father would have surgery. After a few days, Kanojia, as a good gesture, visited his father. He was surprised to learn that his father did not have any health problems.
After this, Kanojia demanded his money back, but she chose arguments and filed a non-cognizable offense against him three months ago, Patil said. He continued to pursue her to get his money back, but she avoided him and did not answer his calls.
“Enraged, Kanojia came prepared and attacked her,” he said.
