The United States Central Intelligence Agency offered purchases to its entire workforce on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The measure would make it the first intelligence agency to join a voluntary redundancy program initiated by President Donald Trump for federal employees.
The agency is also freezing the hiring of employment applicants who have already received a conditional offer, the document reported, citing an assistant to the CIA director, John Ratcliffe.
The anonymous assistant said that some of these frozen offers are likely to be terminated if applicants do not have the appropriate background for the new objectives of the agency, which include attacking drug cartels, Trump’s commercial war .
The measure is part of a massive review of the United States government by Trump, who has promised to radically reduce the federal workforce in the name of the efficiency and frugality that shock waves has sent through Washington.
The purchase report offers in the CIA, whose work by gathering foreign intelligence is vital for the national security of the United States, there was only hours after Trump announced an extraordinary scheme for the United States “to take care of the strip of the strip of Loop”.
The CIA did not immediately respond to a AFP Request for comments.
