He also noted that India has more than 90 Internet users, however, the country is mainly an AI consumer instead of a producer.
Chadha also referred to the comments of the founder of Openai, Sam Altman, where he described the potential of India as “disappointing.” He urged the Government to concentrate on becoming a producer.
To strengthen the position of India in AI, Chadha suggested steps, such as producing indigenous chips, creating a dedicated infrastructure fund, providing research subsidies, offering tax incentives and preventing talent migration.
“The time has come when India should become an AI producer instead of a consumer of AI. For this, we must begin to make indigenous chips in the country. We should start an infra ai background. We must also stop the migration of talents so that the talent of first level of India remains in the country,” he said.
He pointed out that financial investment needs to increase, noting that the United States spends 3.5 percent of its GDP in AI, China 2.5 percent investigation, while India spends only 0.7 percent.
