Canadiens headed to playoffs after defeating Hurricanes 4-2

The Montreal Canadiens go to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Habs needed to obtain at least one point on Wednesday against Carolina’s hurricanes to secure second place on the wild card at the Eastern Conference. The team won 4-2.

This marks its first appearance in the playoffs since 2021.

The Montreal game occurred after the French debate in French moved earlier at night, so the Quebeers would not have to choose between hockey and politics.

The Canadiens lost their opportunity to secure a playoff place on Monday with a 4-3 defeat by the Chicago Blackhawks.

But with Wednesday’s victory, the team has secured a first round series against Washington’s capitals.
