Canadian tennis phenom Victoria Mboko eliminated in 1st match of U.S. Open debut

The debut in the United States Open of Victoria Mboko in Canada ended early with a 6-3 defeat, 6-2 against Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic in a first-round female first round match on Monday.

Mboko was playing his first game since he claimed the title of the National Open in Montreal earlier this month.

The rising star of Toronto, who turns 19 on Tuesday, arrived at Flushing Meadows the seed 22 of the women.

The Canadian drew a formidable first -round opponent, since Krejcikova is twice Grand Slam champion and won the Wimbledon women’s title last year.

The Czech, a former world number 2, opened with a break and came to victory in an hour 23 minutes.

Mboko seemed to feel discomfort in his right wrist wrapped as he shook her continuously. She suffered a wrist injury when she fell during the semifinals of the National Bank Open.

The game stopped for a few minutes in the first game of the second set, while Krejcikova, Mboko and the officials sought the Krejcikova vibration shock absorber for its racket around the Czech chair.

Later on Monday, Gabriel Diallo de Montreal played a Male First Round match against Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
