A sailor with the Royal Canadian Navy died after an incident during small boats in the Halifax Bedford basin on Friday night.
According to a statement from the maritime forces, two sailors were operating an inflatable rigid helmet that overturned and overturned around 10 pm on Friday.
The Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Center coordinated a rescue with ships that were separated from the Canada Coast Guard. The two sailors in the boat were taken out of the water and taken to Mill Cove Jetty, where the paramedics transferred them to the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax.
A sailor was treated and discharged from the hospital the same night. Another sailor could not be risen.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our sailor. His dedication and service to our country will always be remembered and honest. The incident is currently being investigated by the Military Police. A Navy spokesman rejected an interview application.
