The Canada striker, Jonathan David, scored in his debut in series A to establish Juventus on the road to a 2-0 victory over Parma in his first game of the season on Sunday.
David joined Juventus in July in a free transfer after his five -year contract in Lille expired.
Juventus finished the game with 10 men after Andrea Cambiaso was sent to seven minutes of time, but the substitute Dusan Vlahovic doubled the leadership of Bianconeri moments later.
“It’s all I expected,” said David, who was given a standing ovation when he was replaced by Vlahovic in the 80th minute. “It was the first game of the season and the fans brought an incredible atmosphere and it could be felt that they push us forward.
“I am happy to score in my first game, but the most important thing is the three points.”
David is also the top scorer of all time in Canada with 36 goals in 67 appearances.
“The goal is to help the team as much as I can,” David said. “If it is scoring goals, receiving assists, running, defending, I will do everything.”

Juventus fought in the first half, but it was dominant after the break and broke the point of the dead in the 59th minute when David stood in front of his score to boost the Kenan Yildiz cross.
Yildiz also installed the second of the Juve when a quick counterattack saw Vlahovic send it to the right and then run from the central circle to the box to play the return pass.
That came shortly after Cambiaso won an unnecessary red card. He had risen with Mathias Lovik for a high ball and then reacted by pushing the Parma player and looking to hit him on the face with his arm.
