Sarah Mitton of Nueva Scotia successfully defends its world title of interior bullet launching in China

Sarah Mitton de Brooklyn, NS, dominated the female bullet launch competition in the World Athletics Interior Championships in Nanjing, China, launching the two best releases at 20.36 meters and 20.48m to win gold.

“I am very happy with how it turned out today,” Mitton said. “There is really nothing I can do to prevent them from throwing away. And honestly, today it was very fun, because they all threw well. We had three girls over 20 meters, multiple 20 -meter releases. So that makes it better, when you win when everyone is at the top of their game.”

Mitton successfully defended his title after winning gold last year in Glasgow with a shot of 20.22 meters.

His winning launch on Friday, the third longest of his competitive career, came to Mitton’s sixth attempt. His second and fourth launch (20.36 and 20.15 meters) were also enough to ensure gold.

“I try not to concentrate too much on what they are doing. What works for me is to focus on the circle; showing the girls out there what we can do is a large part of me entering the time of my model to follow. Five years ago, I never thought I would be here,” he said.

Brooklyn’s 28 -year -old player, NS, entered the event strongly, after having established an interior Canadian record of 20.68 meters last month in Germany.

The world championships continue until Sunday.
