The most wanted fugitive in the country, Dave “Pik” Turmel, has been arrested in Italy, police sources have confirmed to Radio-Canadá.
It is believed that the 28 -year -old, who has been fleeing for more than a year, is the leader of the Blood family mafia (BFM).
The famous street gang is involved in brutal grass wars in Quebec during which the victims have been tortured and amputated their limbs.
In December, Turmel was appointed as the new suspect number 1 of the Bolo program, a project operated by a Canadian charity organization to alert the public about dangerous criminals.
The Quebec City Police were looking for it since July 24, 2023 for several positions, including drug trafficking, conspiracy and armed assault.
The Interpol Police Agency had also issued a red notice for him, a request to the police worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person waiting for extradition, surrender or similar legal actions.
Last year, Roobens Denis, 31, considered by the police as the man on Turmel’s right, was arrested in Portugal.
