Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is on his way to the final of the European Open.
The Montreal native defeated Belgian Raphael Collignon 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the semifinals of the tennis tournament.
Auger-Aliassime fired eight aces and committed just one double fault while winning 78 percent of her first-serve points.
He also converted one of his three break point opportunities in the one hour and 45 minute match.
Collignon had five aces but four double faults and did not have a single break point opportunity in the loss.
Second seed Auger-Aliassime will face third seed Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic in Sunday’s final.
Shapovalov falls in Stockholm semi-finals
On the other hand, Canadian Denis Shapovalov was about to play for an ATP title.
The Richmond Hill, Ont., native lost 6-3, 6-4 to Norway’s Casper Ruud in the semifinals of the Stockholm Open tennis tournament on Saturday.
Shapovalov, seeded third, had six aces and four double faults, while breaking serve one of five times.
Ruud, the second seed in the tournament, scored two aces on a double fault and converted three of his six break point opportunities.
The Norwegian will next face Frenchman Ugo Humbert in Sunday’s final.
Humbert continued ahead against the Danish Holger Rune, the first seed. Rune suffered an injury in the second set.
