Canada Post says that it has reached an agreement with the Canadian Association of Postmasters and Assistants, the second largest union that represents its workers.
The union represents 8,500 of the Crown Corporation employees, most of whom are responsible for administering mail offices in the country’s rural areas.
The new collective agreement includes a 11 percent salary increase in three years, retroactive at January 1, 2024, said Canada Post on a statement on Thursday. The two parties have been negotiating for 18 months.

Canada Post has not yet reached an agreement with its largest union, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), after having sent its final offer to that group last month.
Final offer presented for vote
The Federal Employment Minister Patty Hajdu, said earlier this month that she would present the final offer for a vote between the members of CUPW, and asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to make the vote “as soon as possible.”
It is not yet clear when the vote will take place.
Copw members made a 32 -day strike last fall after the two parties could not negotiate a collective agreement. The strike ended after the federal government imposed an order to return to work.
