Marilou Grenier stopped 14 shots as Canada defeated the United States 3-0 on Sunday to capture the gold medal at the world under-18 women’s hockey championship.
Dorothy Copetti and Stryker Zablocki scored goals in the third period to solidify the Canadian victory. Caileigh Tiller opened the scoring on a power play in the first, as Canada outshot the United States 30-14, including a 14-5 margin in the second.
Sydney Sawyer added two assists for the Canadians.
Previously, Czechia defeated Sweden 2-1 in the bronze medal fight.
Canada advanced to the final with a 4-2 quarterfinal victory over Czechia on Saturday. The Americans booked their ticket to the championship game by beating Sweden 2-1.
